- 235 "players" (combinations of player and team, as some females and some goalies played for more than one team) played a total of 491 games: 160 (33%) by females and 331 (67%) by males
- 48 of those games were played by goalies (3 by females and 45 by males)
- Subtracting the goalie games, we have: 157 female games and 286 male games (443 total).
- Therefore: For Floor Players - Women account for 35% of games played and men account for 65% of games played.
- 110 players have contributed (goals or assist) to scores this season
- (NOTE: Some female players appear twice as they play for two different teams).
- Of the 110: 25 (23%) are female and 85 (77%) are male.
- Of the 139 goals scored: 17 (12%) were scored by females, and 122 (88%) were scored by males.
- Of the 143 assists awarded: 39 (27%) were from females, and and 104 (73%) were from males
- Special Note: 24 "players" have 1 or more goals, but 0 assists
Unfortunately, we cannot get into minutes played, or positions played (I'm guessing forwards score more goals than defensepeople)
We also don't track defensive stats by gender, so it is difficult to truly assess the relative contributions of women and men.
However, I think it is safe to say that women are contributing as much, if not more, than men to their teams.
look for part 2 coming soon.
