We only have two weeks of power rankings in the Winter 2014 season, but one interesting set of observations can be made thus far.
In BOTH the REC and PRO divisions there are "gaps" between the teams ranked:
- #1 and #2
- #5 and #6
In PRO, there is also a gap between the #7 and #8 teams.
The gaps indicate no teams have crossed over between those positions in the rankings (yet). They currently separate teams into groupings (which may roughly match up with the ones John R. offered on a Facebook thread last week, someone should check that out).
In two of the REC groupings, the bottom team in the week 1 rankings jumped all the way to the top of their group in week 2 (Scabs went from #10 to #6 and Moosassins from #5 to #2).
It will be interesting to see if (or more likely, how long) these groupings persist as the season progresses and when teams get upwardly mobile and/or falter.
Note: Ties in the original rankings were decided by which team had the higher median rating.
