DCHL Fireside Stats: 2014 Winter Season Week 3

  1. It's still too early to draw any, but the most obvious conclusions from the individual player stats. For example:
    • Jake B. and Andrew F. score A LOT of goals
    • Barb Lie. had a REALLY good first two games
    • Rookies Dean Eas. and John Gra. account for the vast majority of their teams' goals.

  • At this point, the 5 to 8 goalies with the best GAA also have the best Save Percentages. It is interesting to note that two of the top three goalies play for teams with negative shot differentials through 3 games (namely, Jason Boi. and George Kun.).

  • League-wide GAA dropped from 3.72 to 3.35 from weeks 2 to 3.

  • Not surprisingly High Sticking accounts for 37% of all penalties.

  • The All Blacks lead the PRO division in both Shots For (32.7/game) and Shots Against (15.7/game), for a ridiculous +17 shots per game advantage.

  • In a similar fashion, Babylon Warriors lead REC in both Shots For (22.7/game) and Shots Against (15.3), for a more modest +7.4 shots per game advantage.

  • Despite trailing The All Blacks in Shots For and Against, Puck Buddies have comfortable leads in GOALS For and Against (7.3 and 2.0 respectively). This is because they are scoring on 25% of their shots taken, and saving 91% of shots against them.

  • Greenback Boogies may lead REC with 5 goales per game, but Babylon Warriors are close behind with 4.3 goals per game. However, what separates them is the Warriors' miniscule 1.7 goals allowed per game.
