DCHL Fireside Stats: 2014 Winter Season Week 1

I'm sure readers of this blog are familiar with the concept of small sample sizes, and the effect on predictive analysis. Accordingly, I hope you'll cut us some slack if we do not try to read too much into the stats after one week of play.

Still, this week did yield a fun stat in the form of Shooting %.

As you can see in the table below some teams shot at RIDICULOUSLY high levels this week.

In the Pro Division:

• Puck Buddies shot 26% on 38 shots
• Blood Red shot 26% on 27 shots
• Puck U shot 25% on 24 shots

In the REC Division:

• Greenback Boogies shot 38% on 21 shots
• Babylon Warriors shot 33% on 21 shots
• Puck U shot 25% on 24 shots

All of these teams are good, but to put these numbers in perspective, the Season high Shooting % values for the Fall 2013 season were: 16% in Pro and 20% in Rec.

Can't wait to see if these teams can keep it up in week 2.
